How do YOU blog?

I don't know, I guess maybe I'm just trying to figure out how others do this. :)
Some of you have these fabulous blogs & I'm thinking, "Man, they have a way with words!" So here are a couple questions - and I'd love to see a few answers from anyone.

1. Is "copying and pasting" poor form even if you credit the original author?
2. Do you just come up with all your great ideas on your own?

That's all for the moment, but if anyone wants to add to this, it might be a great discussion!

Great questions, Kristin. While we are by no means blogging experts, here are our thoughts:

1) Copying and pasting entire articles is probably not the best way to make a post, but using certain quotes from within an article while providing a link and credit is definitely okay. Always try and add some analysis of your own when your idea is inspired by someone else.

2) For us, we generally scour a pretty vast gamut of real estate blog writing and news (real estate, business, and general); we pick what's important to the industry or what we think will be useful to Zolve members, and we add our own analysis. There is nothing wrong with using others' blogs to help generate your own. In fact, that type of information sharing is often seen as the root of blogging (see our recent post "Blogs in Plain English" for more on this).

Hope this helps! The Zolve Team

I am still finding my voice...but i find that the line every creative writing teacher uses "Write what you know" is even truer in blogging. Write what interests you at the moment. Where ever you are in your career as an agent or a blogger, someone is either ahead of you or behind you and can probably either give you some insight or use yours.
